School Motto:

Nothing is impossible once you set your mind to it, with enthusiasm and persistance.


Student Oath:
1. I shall observe the five tenets of Tae Kwon Do.
2. I shall respect my instructors and seniors.
3. I shall never misuse Tae Kwon Do.
4. I shall be a champion of freedon and justice.
5. I shall build a more peaceful world.


Tenets:
1. COURTESY: Be, Polite, Considerate, Helpful, Not vain or boastful.
2. INTEGRITY: To have high moral standards, Be honest and truthful.
3. PERSERVERANCE: To keep on going, even though you are tired. To push your body and mind to excel and NEVER give up on the positive things in your life.
4. SELF-CONTROL: To have control of your emotions, not to show anger, frustrations or fear. Do not be intimidated.
5. INDOMITABLE SPIRIT: To have a "never give up attitude" under any circumstance. Do what is right which may not always be popular. This "attitude" will demonstrate your true character and will build strong commitment skills.

Ap-Seo-Gi: short front stance

School Rules:
1. Everyone (each student) must BOW to the flag, the instructors, and all black belts upon entering or leaving class. Disrespect/disregard for this rule will not be tolerated.
2. Do not enter class late or leave early without expressed permission from the instructor. (Permission to enter class late, Sir/Ma'am? or Permission to leave class early, Sir/Ma'am?
3. Loud conversation, laughter, chewing of gum, wearing watches or other jewelry (chains, earrings, etc...) is not permitted during class.
4. Students are to wear a clean uniform (dou-bock), keep their toe nails/finger nails clean and short. Hands and feet are also to be kept clean.
5. Do not engage in any activties (getting into trouble, fighting, using profanity, etc...) which might degrade the code/ethics of Tae Kwon Do and/or the reputation of De Witt Martial Arts. Students who are verbally or physically aggressive toward others or other students, either in class, in their school, at work, home, etc... will be dismissed! No Exceptions!
6. All students must assume a position of attention whenever talking to their instructor, or any other black belt. Each student must use the words, "Yes Sir", "No Sir, "Yes Ma'am", "No Ma'am" throughout their conversation. Any student who continually disregards this rule will be dismissed from further training... no matter who this student is.
7. Students are expected to be courteous and understanding. They are also expected to help new students feel comfortable and assist them in learning the basics as required by their instructor.
8. Any substitute/assistant instructor is to be spoken to and addressed/treated as any student would treat their own instructor. ANY DISPRESPECT WILL RESULT IN A WARNING. ONE WARNING WILL BE GIVEN PRIOR TO EXPULSION FROM THIS SCHOOL, WITHOUT A REFUND.
9. You must have approval of this school and your instructor to compete in any tournament, any demonstration or to participate in any other martial arts school or event. (DO NOT BREAK THIS RULE!)
10. If the uniform becomes out of place during class, turn away from the other students and instructors, then adjust the uniform and resume training.

Living Rules For Children
1. Children will respect their parents, teachers, and elders.
2. Children will enter their house with a cheerful "Hello!" and "good-bye" when they leave and absolutely must inform their parent/parents "where they are going."
3. Children will be kind to their brothers and sisters.
4. Children will keep their hair, body, and teeth clean daily.
5. Children will keep their household clean and neat.
6. Children will not interrupt adult conversations.
7. Children will not use bad language at home, at school or elsewhere.
8. Children will not use Tae Kwon Do or Hap Ki Do on friends and family.
9. Children will "work hard in school and do their best to obtain and maintain honor roll status"
   (A.) Open your books and review what you have studied today.
   (B.) Do you homework.
   (C.) Preview what you will study tomorrow.
10. Children will address adults as Mr., Mrs., or Ms. And their last name whenever they are addressing, visiting them. They are also to do this within our Dojang, regardless of the adults rank.
11. Open and close vehicle doors for your parents, especially your mother. Open doors for others, whenever possible, upon entering or leaving a building.

Living Rules for Teenagers
1. Respect and obey your parent/ parents, teachers, and other authority.
2. Show respect for other people's property and for public property.
3. Always try your best in school. Do your homework and prepare yourself for the future.
4. Do NOT drink or use drugs.
5. Keep your room neat. Do your laundry and clean up after yourself in the kitchen.
6. Be kind and helpful to your brothers and sisters.
7. Be trustworthy and loyal by always telling the truth.
8. Be cheerful and optimistic, look on the bright side of everything.
9. Be brave and have courage to stand up for what you believe is right.
10. Open and close vehicle doors for your parents, especially you mother. Open doors for others whenever possible, upon entering or leaving a building.
11. Never use Tae Kwon Do on family and friends.
