FOURTH GUP PURPLE BELT BASIC CURRICULUM

Basic Testing Requirements
*School age student must demonstrate acceptable school grades and NOT have any in school
suspensions/detentions nor any N/C class grades.

1) Students must know and demonstrate all previous belt testing requirements from White Belt through the Fourth Gup belt rank. Curriculum changes will be made at Sr. Master DeWitt's discrestion.

2) WTF Pattern - White Belt WTF Tae Geuk Hyungs up through Tae Geuk Oh Jang
(meaning and number of steps).

3) ITF Pattern - Joong Gun - meaning and number of steps. *Why is it named this?
Grandmaster, Dr. Eugene A. Humesky Ph.D. has an extensive Korean martial arts website. Since he is officially our Tae Kwon Do Grandmaster, ALL students should be reviewing this site and retaining this information as it is listed.
All of our International TaeKwon Do Federation Tuls (patterns) are executed with the "old school" traditional Korean martial arts
standards, NOT the sine wave movements or motions.

4)All WTF / ITF White Belt rank through Fourth Purple Belt rank must be
completed successfully. Students must be able to successfully complete their
highest
ranking forms to their lowest ranking forms and than again in
reverse order. Students must also complete the WTF and ITF Forms, doing
each in all four directions of the dojang.

5) Fourth Purple Belt One Steps - 4th Purple/Pon Gwan Sul steps.

6) Must attend two or more classes per week. Should attend the middle class.

7)Yon Moo Kwan Hap Ki Do Techniques: 1 - 10

8) Bong Hyungs - Jung Bong Hyung.
*Demonstration of proper bong twirling with multiple physical / cognitive
martial arts skills/abilities.

9) Chuk IL Hyung Juhl Bong Hyung.

10) *Attendance and completion of Friday night fitness/pre-test prior
to Saturday promotional test. This martial arts training workout consists
of approximately eight to nine hours of Chung Do Kwan Tae Kwon Do,
Bong twirling, Stretching and Hyung training, Juhl Bong Hyungs demonstrations
and Chuk IL Hyung
along with completion of at least five times the
*Basic Physical Requirement Criteria for this rank.

11) Knowledge and demonstration of all basic, double, triple, swing and
jumping kicks. All blocking, arm, fist, hand techniques taught within
our dojang. Knowledge and demonstration of all stances and exact
knowledge of distances with stance and other techniques are mandatory
requirements at this rank.

12) Complete knowledge of the United States of America flag.

13) Complete knowledge of the South Korean flag.

14) *Obtain Master Keppers, Mr. Mertes and Dr. Taylor's permission
to test for higher martial arts rank


15) Any other martial arts information which is given during classes.

16) Basic Physical Requirement Criteria:
Jumping Jacks 150
Push Ups 5 sets of 30
Crunches/Sit Ups 5 sets of 40
Mountain Climbers 5 sets of 30
Leg Raises 5 sets of 25
Burpees 5 sets of 15
Jogging 2 to 5 miles

19) Time in grade/rank for Fourth Purple is approximately six months.
Some students learn this Gup rank curriculumn quite well within three
months and upon successful completion of the *Basic Physical
Requirement criteria and a verbal/oral examination, they are
allowed to test for their Third Purple rank.
