About US
Teaching Strict ("Old School") Korean Martial Arts Our
Purpose and Philosophy: Our program is designed to assist in the
personal development of our students. We use a variety of activities to help us
achieve our objectives, including an abundance of exercises, self-defense (Hap
Ki Do), strict Hyung (WTF/ITF forms/patterns) training, heavy bag, kicking and
target training methods. Our Philosophy is that we can all continuously improve
ourselves, both physically and mentally, through our specific "old school"
training (style/curriculum/criteria) of Chung Do Kwan Tae Kwon Do and Hap Ki Do.
We teach two styles of Hap Ki Do: HoShin Sul and Koong Joong Mu Sool. We
begin teaching Hap Ki Do techniques at the Eighth Gup/Gold Belt rank. All students
are eventually taught a variety of HoShin Sul and Koong Joong Mu Sool Hap
Ki Do techniques along with Juhl Bong Sool and Bong Sool exercises/hyungs. Black
Belt ranked students are taught the advanced HoShin Sul and Koong Joong Mu Sool
curriculum. See Kong Shin Bup inheritor, Grandmaster Rudy W. Timmerman
website. INSTRUCTORS:

Do Tae
Kwon Do - Chung Do Kwan: Tae Kyon, So Bahk and Tang Soo originated
in China and Korea over two thousand years ago. It has developed and improved
greatly over the centuries. Chung Do Kwan is the first style of Tae Kwon Do to
be taught in Korea and most of the original Korean Masters initially began their
martial arts training in the Korean Tae Kwon Do style of Chung Do Kwan. It is
almost impossible to find an elderly Korean martial arts pioneer who did not start
their martial arts training in Chung Do Kwan. Tae Kwon Do is not taught the same
everywhere, different Instructors have been taught differently and styles vary
accordingly. Some other Korean styles are, Tang Soo Do, Soo Bahk Do, Moo Duk Kwan,
Kuk Sool Won, Ji Do Kwan and Chang Moo Kwan. Our style of Tae Kwon Do, taught
at De Witt Martial Arts, is essentially taught in the same manner and methods
("old school") as it was initially taught in Korea. We do NOT teach
commercialized, Americanized Tae Kwon Do nor do we teach a sport Tae Kwon Do.
DeWitt Martial Arts is the only traditional/authentic ("old school")
Chung Do Kwan, Hap Ki Do and Weapons Korean martial arts dojang within Central
Minnesota. TAE

and Exercise: Chung Do Kwan and Hap Ki Do are both powerful and
graceful martial arts disciplines. Techniques are taught to be implemented and
completed with flowing, graceful and powerful movements. Students continuously
strive to improve their presentations of Chung Do Kwan and also Hap Ki Do. Tae
Kwon Do develops and improves posture, all body movements, coordination, attention
and concentration skills for all students at all ages. We do a variety of exercises
to improve and strengthen both the body and the mind. Students develop real and
lasting self-confidence, flexibility, endurance, speed, balance, strength, coordination
and self-control, to name a few of the benefits. YOU
